Dearest Little Brennan,
You are getting so big, and so funny and so wily... The picture above pretty much sums it up; you are a wonderful handful, we are always wondering what to do, we keep our senses of humor and we are in it together! This has been quite a month, and when I look back even just a few weeks ago, you have already changed more. Everything is still going in your mouth, but now instead of a quick "taste" you are chewing on them as if they will reveal layers and layers of flavor--like a big jawbreaker.
Your Gran coached you into sitting up on your own unassisted while she was visiting and that is what you are all about these days--sitting on the floor, taking things apart, putting them in an oatmeal box (your favorite toy), dumping them out, chewing on them and throwing them. You intensely "work" on these tasks and even when you get frustrated and teary you don't stop. Here you are playing with a wonderful wood frog that Grammy's cousin made for you.
The other big development this month is your hair... It has become very FLUFFY! We pulled out my baby pictures at Christmas and there it was--fluffy hair... Your hair has been like perfect baby hair up until now--smooth and flat on your head and not a hair out of place (like your Daddy's). All of a sudden Pouff! it stands on end as if static electricity constantly surrounds you. I wet it and brush it down and as soon as it dries it is on end again! A few weeks ago you and Daddy popped in to say hello to Caroline, our hair stylist friend who works across the street, and she said to you "Brennan, what happened to your hair?" You looked at her and burst into tears! The following week we decided to play with her a bit and gave you a new hairdo:
Mr. Tough Guy in the 'hood... Or, not so much...
My little sweet pea, you are too cute and too sweet to pull off a mohawk, but you are FUN to play with and take funny pictures with--we are going to continue with the birthday pictures, costumes and gags for as long as you will tolerate us! We love you so much and are so loving being your mom and dad.
xoxo
M
