Showered with Love...

She said:  I knew the time was going to fly, I just didn't know how quickly!!  These post-holiday weeks have just flown by, and we have been busy.  I traveled to Idaho for a snowy mountain weekend reunion (2nd annual!) with some very dear people I met while doing the Hoffman Process in 2006 (www.hoffmaninstitute.org).  They are a lovely and loving group of friends and they surprised me the first night with a celebratory dinner honoring me (and Birdy!), followed by a showering of gifts for the little guy.  A very sweet way of making this all the more real to and for me/us...

Belly Shot: Week 27

She said:  Here I am February 2nd with 3 months to go.  I can sum up January 2008 in one word... GESTATING.  That's what I've been up to... all month.  We are trying to get out and do something each weekend--try a new restaurant, see a movie--things that a few months from now will be luxuries.

Creating

She said:  I had the profoundly emotional realization last night, while Justin was packing for a quick overnight business trip, of the enormity of what we are doing in creating a family together. We are connecting ourselves to each other in the deepest way I know.  And perhaps because we have come into this all with such willing and open hearts, it is more lovely and compelling than I ever could have imagined.

Belly Shot: January 1, 2008

She said:  Well, here we are in 2008.  Our due date is 4 months from today, May 1st, and I certainly have started to feel and (slowly) look like a pregnant person.  I have been going to pre-natal yoga, and it is pretty wonderful to be with some other expectant moms at various stages--I haven't had much of that.  A few of my co-workers are/were also pregnant these last few months, but other than the occasional chat in the break room, the office is not much of a place to bond with other moms-to-be, I think we are all trying to not be so different than we have always been.  So these yoga classes are very sweet in that way.  It is also so interesting to me how very differently women's bodies carry babies, and to see these women from different walks of life come together to just "be" with their changing bodies and growing babies.

It's a...

The last few months have been a whirlwind of news, excitement and appointments. Justin and I thought it would be really fun to create a memorable experience for ourselves for when we learned of Birdy's gender...
Kind of like what we have done for each of you over the last few weeks... We took an envelope to Paris with us with the gender information inside. A few days into our trip, after spending most of the day walking around Paris, we headed to the...

and walked up the stairs to the second level lookout. We pulled the envelope out of my bag, and began to open the envelope...

Justin handed over the opened envelope, and I whipped out the piece of paper, and with tears of joy...

We learned that our little one is a...

Belly Shot: The first of many

She said:  I am about 14 weeks along in this picture.  I know my tummy is going to get lots bigger, and thought it would be fun to track that "expansion" here...

11w 1d

Birdy says: My mom and dad went to the doctor again today.  My mom had to have a test today to make sure that everything is okay with me.  During the CVS procedure they took lots of pictures of me and my current home to make sure they were getting tissue samples of the placenta and not of me!  They are going to grow the tissue sample for about a week and then test it to make sure that genetically I am in good shape.  Here I am...
